Now Entering…Portland Premiered June 9

NOW ENTERING is a video scrapbook of the people, places and history of towns as seen through the eyes of its residents.

The first town chosen was Portland.

NOW ENTERING…PORTLAND featured a variety of video vignettes about this Jay County city, told by more than 20 of its community members.

Go back in time to meet some of the city’s most famous residents, like Elwood Haynes, who was among the first to build and drive a gasoline-powered, self-propelled vehicle.

Get a peek inside one of Portland’s historic churches; learn about its longest-running organizations, and explore the popular events that set this town apart from the rest, including the Fiber Fest, Stars In the Park and, of course, the World’s Largest Gas Engine and Tractor Show.

Community members collected video footage and still photos to showcase the stories that make their town unique.

Then the WIPB production team traveled to Portland on two different days to record interviews at the beautiful Arts Place with our storytellers, which will serve as the narration for each of their stories.

On June 9, many of those storytellers were in the WIPB studios for the live pledge program to talk about their experiences. You can receive a DVD of NOW ENTERING…PORTLAND when you support WIPB (details available during the program).
